MMB – Is it time for a liver detox?
Good morning everyone,
I hope your December is off to a fabulous start and you are getting into the Christmas spirit! Excellent effort by everyone who was able to make it out to classes this past week! Yes, I know it’s darker and colder, so an extra round of applauds for making the effort to stay on track with your work outs! It’s this time of year we need extra encouragement to keep each other accountable. During this time of year, the tendency is to hunker down and get cozy with yummy things to eat and drink! Beware friends and be on guard for a shift in behavior! Let’s stay focused on moving and continuing to eat clean!
Reminders and Announcements:
1) December Contest: I Conquered Temptation Moment! For this month, I’m running a contest for you guys to log any moments where you are tempted to eat or drink something that isn’t good for you, and you pass it up! Example – your coworkers bring in a plate of doughnuts, or some Christmas dessert to eat in the middle of the day etc. Pass it up! Say no! Run away! 🙂 I’ll be giving away a $50 class card so start logging those moments where you say NO to an unhealthy treat!
Running Boot Camp is on Sunday, December 11th at 11am. Note the start time change from 7am to 11am. Class meets at Jen’s house and features running drills, combined with strength and core. Class is open to beginner runners and lasts about an hour. See Jen for more info.
2)Week of December 11th – NO Class on Tuesday the 13th, only on Thursday, the 15th.
3)Christmas Boot Camp & Brunch is on Christmas Eve morning the 24th! There will be one hour long class on this Saturday at 7:30am. Modifications will be shown for beginners. Mama Jen’s Brunch will follow. This is my way of saying thank you to all of you! Please let me know if you’ll be able to attend this special Boot Camp! If you need to bring your kids with you, they can hang out in one of the rooms and play during Boot Camp and then can join us for Brunch!
4)New Website – I’m still working with a web designer on a few things and hope to have the new site finished in a couple of weeks. If any of you have felt encouraged or have seen transformation in your lives from being a part of the Jen Allan Fitness Community and would like to share, I would appreciate having some testimonials for my site. You can simply type something up in an e-mail and send it to me. Thanks so much!
5)New Year’s Eve Morning Boot Camp & Treat! I’ll be having a special Boot Camp on 12/31 with one class only from 7:30am t0 8:30am. A special treat to follow!
Thought for the week: Is it time for a liver cleanse?
The liver is one of the hardest working organs in our body because it’s responsible for removing toxins from out body. Now that we are in the holidays where you may be inclined to indulge a little more, it would be a very good idea to do a liver detox. There are a variety of ways to do this. Dr. Axe has a great article on the importance of the liver, a list of symptoms indicating a sluggish liver, and ideas for how to prepare the body for the cleanse and then the cleanse itself. I found the article very helpful and a good reminder that we need to respect the liver for how much it does for us! Happy detoxing!
