MMB – Green Hope in New York!
Happy Monday to you! I hope all of you mothers out there had an awesome Mother’s Day and feel celebrated and appreciated! As many of you know, I was away this weekend in New York City, so I wasn’t around to teach boot camp. How did Saturday go for you guys? Did anyone try the boot camp challenge from my blog? I want to give a special shout out to Joanne and Ken Vieira because they did the entire boot camp in about 55 minutes! Lynnda Phillbrook also gave it a shot and completed one cycle of the boot camp in about 29 minutes. Way to go Joanne, Ken, and Lynnda! Did anyone else try? I’d love to hear about it!
Here is a picture of Joanne and Ken sweaty and joy filled that they completed the boot camp!

Thought for the week: Green Hope in New York City!
(Monique, PF, Jen, Bob) in Central Park
It has been about five years since I’ve been in New York City. This past weekend, I had the opportunity to travel to New York City with my husband Bob to visit our Swiss friends Pierre Francois and Monique. It’s always great seeing old friends and catching up as if no time has passed. We had a marvelous time traveling throughout the city and taking in all of the marvelous sights and sounds. I was pleased to observe a change in New York City. There are a myriad of green food options everywhere! Fresh & Co was particularly inspiring because they had fresh green juices, bowls, salads, artisan sandwiches, and grab and go chia seed puddings with fresh fruit and granola. Awesome! They were also food allergy sensitive.
I think the vision that shocked me the most was seeing all of the green juice food trucks on the street! Check it out:
I also observed that there were fewer obese people walking around that what I remember. Maybe times are changing and people are starting to become more aware of the importance of fruits and veggies after all! If if can happen in New York City, it can happen anywhere!
So friends, from coast to coast, let’s continue keeping up our nutritional awareness in the bay area and eating as clean as possible using the 80/20 rule. If you don’t have fresh greens in your fridge, you are most likely not going to eat them on a regular basis. So, I encourage you to shop more frequently or visit farmers markets so that you have a variety of fresh fruits and veggies to choose from. Make a big salad without dressing and keep it in the fridge. This makes it SO much easier to grab a bowl of salad! Whether you juice or blend, steam or sautee, roast or eat raw, make sure to eat your veggies as often as possible! With hard work in fitness and consistent superfoods entering into your body, you will live better, longer, and healthier!
See you in class soon!
