MMB – An Inspiring Weekend

Good  morning everyone,

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!  Did you guys miss me?  I sure missed you guys!  Did you do the Boot Camp work out I posted?  I know quite a few of you did the work out because you texted me photos and videos!  Way to go Lynnda Philbrook, Paula and Jason Allen, Joanne and Ken Vieira, Erin and Brian Campbell, and Kim Mehr.  Did I miss anyone?  Let me know if you did the work out and how it went!  Excellent effort everyone!  I love seeing that moving is part of who you guys are and what you do!  Way to make it happen – woot!

Many of you know that I attended the SCW Mania Fitness Conference this past weekend.  It was a fantastic weekend filled with inspiration, motivation, and seeing what’s new out there in the fitness industry. I was so thrilled to get away and focus on nothing but fitness the entire weekend!  Of course, you guys were in the back of my mind the entire time as I was sweating my guts out and working super hard!

I was able to connect with our favorite fitness gal Doreen Wagner and take quite a few classes together, which was super fun!  I also ran into one of my old mentors, Katie McDougall from the Livermore Valley Tennis Club, and it was so great connecting with her again as a trainer running my own business!  Thanks Katie!

Doreen and I both survived Sgt. Ken’s Military Boot Camp classes and had an awesome time together sweating and working it hard!  Hooay!  Sgt. Ken was active duty for three tours overseas and is now in the reserves continuing to serve in counter terrorism.  He is the read deal!  He shared with us that he was there the day that Saddam Hussein was captured and he actually met him before he was assassinated.  He commented on the look of darkness and evil that surrounded Saddam Hussein.  Now, he travels all around the world teaching civilians how to work out military style!

Nearly 70 fitness leaders from all over the Northwest region of the USA endured 10 rounds of Operation Shock and Awe at SCW Fitness California at 0700 hours on Saturday, 25 March 2017. Designed as a free-style circuit (Obstacle Course) with six lanes and three power pits, this course challenges you to perform strength, power and aerobic conditioning drills with little or no break between exercises.

Like I do at every other country where this course takes place, I track the completion times of the athletes and coaches in order to see how they rank against the competition.

Team USA moved up to #3 in the world:

Overall, the conference was amazing and I am inspired to share with you guys some of the things I learned.  I’m really fired up about Kettle Bells!  I haven’t really trained with Kettle Bells before, but this weekend shed the light for me! 

I’d love to teach a Kettle Bell class with you guys, but you gotta help me out.  Can you start looking around for Kettle Bells and purchase them to bring to class?  Ideally, you’d want to eventually have a 10lb, 15lb, and 20 lb set of dumb bells.  For starting off and class purposes, you can start with a 10lb or 15lb.  I’ll start looking too and bring some into class.  I don’t have the space to store an entire set of Kettle Bells for group ex purposes because I already store all of my other equipment in my garage gym.  So, see what you can find this week and let me know.  We can mimic many of the moves with dumb bells, so we could use those to get started.  Sound good?

  1. Please purchase a pair of kick boxing gloves that support your wrist and knuckles.  We’ll be using these during Cardio Fusion Tuesdays.
  2. Look around for a used set of Kettle Bells so we can incorporate into class.
  3. Spring Fitness Challenge starts Saturday, April 1st.
  4. Running Boot Camp is Sunday, April 9th at 11am.
  5. No Boot Camp on April 22nd.
  6. March Contest Liquid Green= Liquid Life ends on 3/31!  Get ready to turn in your logs!
