Leah joined Jen Allan Fitness in May 2014 at a Beginner Boot Camp at the park. At the time, she was very sedentary, overweight, not eating the healthiest, and very unhappy with her body image and lack of energy. Now, Leah is 40 pounds lighter and is a healthy weight, BMI, and body fat %! She is a true inspiration to everyone around her for her hard work, discipline, and how she committed to changing her life! Way to go Leah and so proud of you!! Read her story below!
I have never been an “exercise person.” In fact, I hated to exercise or sweat. I couldn’t understand how people could claim to have more energy and feel better after working out. Enter Jen Allan. Here’s a woman who is the most energetic and vibrant person you’ll ever meet. I listened to her talk about how disease is knocking on the door and about how we can choose to combat disease by getting up off the couch and MOVING. I knew she was right but it took a while before I finally decided to try her class.
Was I terrified? Yep. I was so nervous and intimidated, but I knew I needed to make a change in my life because I was overweight and very unhappy with myself. Jen knew how to push me and challenge me all the while she encouraged me and cheered me on. It was easy to see, right off the bat, how much she really cares. To say she is passionate about helping people get healthy is an understatement. This woman is more than a fitness instructor. She’s more than a personal trainer. She sincerely cares about the health and wellness of people. She does everything she can to educate and empower people to take better care of themselves.
Jen has helped me change my lifestyle. And it has had a ripple effect on my family. My 9 year old daughter wants to make a mother/daughter work-out video with me (Ha!) and my husband has actually started getting on the treadmill.
I have lost around 38 pounds so far and although I have been this weight before, I don’t think I have been this strong before. I still have a ways to go, but I am on the way, not just sitting on the sidelines. I actually use my treadmill now (used to be a dust collector) and I have cut way back on eating junk and instead I’m eating healthier and more carefully. After working out hard with Jen, why would I want to go eat a bunch of junk and undo all my hard work?!
Most people know that if you want to be fit and healthy, you need to eat right and exercise; it’s just a matter of actually DOING it. I used to think about doing it, but it wasn’t until I joined Jen’s community that I actually started doing it. It’s possible to do it on your own, but it’s so much better to be in the company of other people who are working hard toward a similar goal. And you just won’t find a more sincere and loving coach than Jen. I look forward to her class and she continues to inspire and challenge me. She has helped me get to where I am and she has helped me find out that I could do even more than I thought I could. I have come to know and love her and I’m so grateful to have her in my life. I’m proud of myself for how far I’ve come, but I give the credit to Jesus and to Jen Allan.
