Blog 7/27/20 – Summer Moves!

Hi Everyone,

Happy Monday to you!  I hope you all had a great weekend and are soaking up summer and all of its goodness!  I know many of you are moving every week because I see your smiling, sweaty faces in my classes!  Did you know that I am offering 10 classes a week now?  Wowza – and many of you are attending multiple classes throughout the week!  Excellent work my friends!

Can you see and feel the difference in your endurance level?  If you are working out efficiently 3-5 times per week, in a variety of different ways, I KNOW that you are increasing your lean body mass and are impacting your BMR – basil metabolic rate.  Why is this important?  This is how we make our bodies work smarter!  Whatever you are doing throughout the day, your body is burning more calories because of your fitness level.  Your EPOC, or excess post oxygen consumption, is a huge component here too because this is your after burn that lasts up to 24 hours.  Anyway, just wanted to throw out some vocab for you guys to take in and learn more about what all of this “fitness stuff” is actually doing inside your bodies.  It’s also how we combat a variety of different diseases and keep our hearts pumping stronger, bones, joints, and muscles stronger, and just feel overall better every day!

This past Saturday was another tough one!  For Boot Camp On-Line, we did another wheel work out where the hub of the wheel was the following:  20 jump squats, 20 burpees, 20 push-ups, 20 mountain climbers, and 20 plank jacks.  So, yes, that’s 100 exercises in a burst format!  But wait, there’s the spokes on the wheel!  We did a variety of compound resistance and core exercises with a timing protocol of 45 seconds.  Bottom line?  We did six circuits and the hub alone equaled 120 jump squats, burpees, push-ups, mountain climbers, and plank jacks! Woo hoo!

But wait, there’s more!  Park Fitness was also offered at 8:40am so there was a new group of clients to hit the trail to the park!  Did we work hard?  YES!  Lots of running, sprint drills, body weight exercises and core!  And, a special shout out once again to Debbie Roe who is continuing to do double duty on Thursdays and  Saturdays!  If any of you feel like you want to ramp up your fitness to the next level and are ready to further increase your endurance, try coming out for 2 classes in one day or back to back.  Remember, you gotta respect the rest days too for repair and recovery!

Me with Debbie Roe!  Post Boot Camp On-Line and Park Fitness!!
